hemmel store Vintage 1981 PlaymobilPlaymo SpaceTheme Set Space Explorers Astronauts #3589EARLY FIRST ISSUE BOXwith KLICKY figuresIssued 1981 discontinured 1987Old Store StockMIB / nrfp / MOC / mipPLEASE NOTE: There is some confusion as to the first issue playmobil packaging artwork depicted on the early boxes. While it remains one of the reason they are so collectible, as well as having the rare Klicky figures, you should note the description portion to be sure what is included in the product. Playmobil advertised complete dioramas in the artwork photos. These photos are different on all sides of the box. I have photographed every side. This product is for stated contents only.PLEASE EXCUSE CAMERA GLARE.THERE ARE NO WHITE SPOTS ON ITEMsInformation and BackgroundI represent a 90 year old family owned toy store, and with that I provide you the opportunity to own your heart's desire. This is where most of the items I list are from. The initial product range was relatively small and offered only a few dozen sets in three different themes. They were produced by GEOBRA-BRANDSTATTER in a factory in Dietenhofen, Germany and towards the end of May 1974, the very first shipments of this new toy began to take their place on the shelves of toy stores in Germany and the Benelux. By the end of 1974, the toy system had already proven its market value. Those who were skeptical at first, started to place additional orders. Geobra ended its fiscal year with a surprising turnover thanks to the new PLAYMOBIL® product.Since its introduction 38 years ago, PLAYMOBIL® has become one of the most successful toy brands in the world. PLAYMOBIL® toys don't come with prefabricated stories but offer a world of unlimited possibilities that trigger the imagination and creativity of young minds. Over the last few years, a growing community of grown-up fans and collectors became increasingly interested in the world of PLAYMOBIL®.Review of Blue Box Packaging HistoryDuring the past, the design of PLAYMOBIL® boxes has changed more than a few times. All PLAYMOBIL® boxes carry their own unique set of signs and markings that allow us to determine the age of any given set. Some Items even have gone through different generations of packaging types and styles. Amidst all the continuous changes, there were several clearly recognizable "periods" in the history of PLAYMOBIL®s packaging. PERIODS being the most obvious word. Please note the "DOT" over the "I" in the word Playmobil as I describe the packaging details.Photo Identification #1 (1974 - 1979)Earliest and oldest blue box packaging from 1974-1979. The "DOT" over the "I" is a perfect circle. This Playmobil®-logo on the oldest boxes was more complicated. It incorporated - under the PLAYMOBIL® brand logo - the circular Brandstater company logo and the suffix SYSTEM and/or COLOR. The word PLAYMOBIL® was set in a Bauhaus typeface, and has not changed all that much since then. The word "Klicky" was a kind of nickname given to the first PLAYMOBIL® figures. The term was only used in the seventies and referred to the typical clicking sound a figure makes when it is handled during play. On the older boxes, there was a typical label, a "Klicky-Tag" that was printed over the cover picture. The tag also shows the number of figures contained in a particular box.Photo Identification #2 (1980s)GlBlue box packaging of the 1980's, as well as the Pink Box packaging of the 1990's. The "DOT" over the "I" has now become known as the "smashed square".Also the circular Brandstater company logo has been dropped.Photo Identification #3 (1990 - present)Blue box packaging of the 1990s and most well known of today. The dot is now know as the "rounded square".PLEASE NOTE: For those collectors interested in the packaging versions,THIS SUPER SET BOX SHOWS THE 1st LOGO as shown above. Finally, I would like to recognize and thankwww.collectobil.com and playmodb.organd their websites who graciously allowed me use some of their information for my listing descriptions.
